What are the requirements needs to fulfill as first step towards ERP environment. To make sure your ERP implementation go smooth and successful. Organization/s need to follow the below mantra…
Top Management involvement
For successful implementation of ERP, you have to have top management on board. They should be involved from start and not to limit themselves for approval of project only. They should part of new ERP defined business process adoption, while doing the same they will understand the capabilities / limitation of the technology. Their involvement from initial stage will help to reduce implementation time as any hitches that may arise will get address in time.
For successful and timely implementation, organization need to form a committee with taking representative from all departments, including IT and Top management. It is recommended to have two leaders of such committee, first a finance manager (as reflection of each department’s business process change can be easily seen into finance books) and other from IT (he should have knowledge of current business process of the company, i.e. he should functional sound).
Planning & Lot of Planning
ERP committee needs to devout lot of time on planning. As range of opinions will gives proper insights for selecting right ERP product for all involved departments. And while implementation it will help to adopt best suited business process for the organization.
This is the most critical area for ERP success. As it is widely used by down-the-line employees of the organization, ERP committee need to carry out lot of sessions with all concerned employees to help them understand change is bound to happen. ERP committee must communicate the outcome expected from ERP and overall benefits of project success.
Engage Extra Help
From start of the project, organization needs to involve knowledgeable and well-versed Consultant/s who know how to communicate effectively with non-technical or non-functional audience to help end users to train and adapt the new business application. If these professional are available on-site, then they can explain / provide solution / workaround for issues users are facing at initial stages as this will uphold the morale of users. Organization’s full-time IT staff will experience heavier with workload as they will not only helping end users to adjust to the change but also adapting themselves to the change.
